Cross-examination is the cornerstone of a public defender’s work. This session will focus on the fundamental trial skills needed to be excellent at cross-examination. The process of preparing for cross-examination involves determining a theory of the case, investigation and fact gathering, organizing facts by topic (preparation charts), preparing the cross-examination (chapters of cross-examination), and execution of the cross-examination.
